WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A US general warned that the biggest annual military exercise between the United States and Gulf states could be canceled due to the Gulf-Qatar crisis.
Gen. Jeffrey Harrigan, commander of the US Air Force in the Middle East, told reporters that the issue of "Eagle Resolve" maneuvers, in which the GCC countries are participating alongside the United States, is currently considering the crisis with the State of Qatar.
"We are still looking at each maneuver and we are having discussions," Harrigan said, adding that it also included "Eagle Resolve."
The United States and the Gulf States regularly conduct joint exercises annually in the region, and participated 1,000 US troops in the exercises, "Eagle Resolve 2017" in Kuwait in March this year.
