The General Assembly of the Turkish parliament on Monday set a date for the election of a new president, out of five candidates.
The Assembly decided to close the door to run for the presidency of parliament on midnight on Friday, and also approved a proposal to form an advisory body in parliament, according to the agency "Anatolia".
With the end of the candidacy period, the competition is limited to the ruling Justice and Development Party's deputy, Ismael Kahraman, the current speaker of the parliament, the party's deputy, Tamer Dagli, and the Republican People's Party (opposition) Zacarias Tizmial, the nationalist movement Jalal Adan and Salma Ermak from the party Democratic Peoples, as well as the independent MP from the province of Kayseri Yusuf Halajoglu.
