The Russian city of Sochi is preparing to hold a trilateral summit of leaders of Turkey, Russia and Iran on Wednesday to discuss the political transition in Syria.
"The summit will address, in particular, the actions of the United States in Syria, in order to put forward a unified position on this issue," according to the agency "Anatolia" Turkish.
"Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will hold important negotiations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Hassan Rowhani to discuss the political transition in Syria," Turkish government spokesman Bakir Bouzdaghan said.
Earlier in the day, the Anatolia news agency quoted Turkish diplomatic sources as saying that the participants in the summit would discuss the latest developments concerning the region in general, and Syria in particular.
"The three leaders will discuss the implementation of the cease-fire regime in Syria," NTV said.
It should be noted that Russia, Turkey and Iran are the guarantors in the Astana negotiations on the Syrian settlement, reached earlier this year to the initial agreement on the establishment of tension-easing areas in Syria, in search of a political solution to the crisis in the country since the spring of 2011.
