Parliament commits the government to increase allocations for the crowd

     Baghdad / Range

The House of Representatives voted Thursday on a parliamentary decision obliging the government to include the salaries of the popular crowd and its allocations and equality with their peers in the armed forces in the budget of 2018, in a session chaired by First Deputy Hammam Hamoudi and attended by 181 deputies. The House of Representatives passed the popular mobilization law almost a year ago and included only four articles, leaving the government with the opportunity to elaborate. The popular rally is formed in June 2014.
The parliament's media department said in a statement received by Al-Mada that the parliament "completed the vote on a parliamentary decision regarding the salaries and allowances of the volunteers of the Popular Propaganda Authority."
The statement said that the decision "requires the Council of Ministers to calculate the salary difference in accordance with the laws in force from 1/1/2017 and include in the budget of 2018 full rights of members of the popular mobilization in accordance with the laws and equality with their peers in the armed forces."
The Chamber of Deputies "discussed the law of service and retirement of the popular crowd and sent it to the House of Representatives for the purpose of voting on him and determine the legal description of the members of the crowd according to the controls in force." Commenting on the decision, MP Badr Faleh al-Khazali announced his intention to collect signatures to restore the federal budget to the government if it does not include equality of salaries of the popular mobilization in the armed forces.
"The budget of 2017 included the equality of these salaries, but the government did not work with them," Khazali said in a statement received by al-Mada, a copy of which said, "We will collect signatures to rebalance the budget if it does not include equal salaries for popular mobilization with the armed forces."
