The US State Department has renewed its call for Baghdad and Erbil to resolve the outstanding differences between the two sides,
"The direct military talks between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi government, and this means that the two sides are definitely steps towards solutions," said Heather Nuerte in a statement to the Foreign Ministry.
She described the talks of Erbil and Baghdad military as "positive" and renewed the call of the parties to "a comprehensive dialogue to resolve all differences."
The Presidency of the Kurdistan Regional Government said in a statement yesterday, Friday, that the envoy of US President, Brett McGork, visited Erbil and met with both Prime Minister Nechervan Barzani and his deputy, Qubad Talabani.
The statement said: "The two sides expressed their satisfaction to stop the tension between the Iraqi forces and the Peshmerga," and stressed the "need to start a serious dialogue between Baghdad and Erbil to solve problems according to the Constitution, because it is the only way to solve problems."

"It is not possible to implement the provisions of the Iraqi constitution by adopting unconstitutional means," said the adviser of the Kurdistan Regional Security Council, Massur Barzani.

Barzani was apparently referring to the Iraqi military response to the Kurdistan referendum.

It is noteworthy that McGork conducted two days ago talks with senior Iraqi officials before heading later to Erbil, where he met with the Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani.

He stressed the need for dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad.
