The defense and defense committee in the parliament denied on Tuesday that there is any agreement between the Iraqi government and the United States to build joint military bases in Iraq.
"There is no formal agreement between the Baghdad government and the so-called coalition forces on the construction of joint military bases in Iraq," said Mowaffaq al-Rubaie, a member of the committee.
"Baghdad did not agree with US forces on a timetable that would end its presence in Iraq permanently," he said.
The spokesman for the so-called international coalition, Col. Ryan Dillon, has confirmed the retention of some forms of presence in Iraq after the elimination of Wahhabist preacher. "
