The Russian military group may be reduced in Syria, taking into consideration the agreements between the presidents of Russia, Iran and Turkey, General Valery Girasimov, the chief of the Russian General Staff, said.

"This is likely to happen," the general told reporters on Wednesday, when asked whether the Russian military group should be shortened in a joint statement issued by Presidents Vladimir Putin, Hassan Rowhani and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The heads of state of the three countries called in a final statement issued by their meeting in Sochi on Wednesday to continue the process of reducing the escalation in Syria, which began within the framework of the Astana process. The three Presidents emphasized the continued cooperation for the total elimination of terrorist groups and expressed their support for the broad joint Syrian dialogue. C
