    [ltr]Follow up of Mawazine News[/ltr]
[ltr]The number of refugees returning from Jordan to Syria during the last three months was one thousand refugees a month, the UNHCR spokesman in Jordan, Mohammed al-Hawari, said.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The UNHCR is striving to ensure that the option of return is of its own accord, without any pressure, and for its part it advises not to return because of its fear of the instability of the situation in Syria and the danger of return," al-Hawari said. Considers that the conditions of the return of refugees in safety and dignity are not yet possible in Syria, and therefore does not facilitate or reinforce return, as there is still a significant risk to civilians inside Syria. "[/ltr]
[ltr]Al-Hawari told the Jordanian newspaper that despite the increase in absolute figures, it is still very small figures for the number of refugees, equal to 0.2% of the total Syrian refugees in the Kingdom.[/ltr]
[ltr]Al-Hawari pointed out that it is too early to link the desire of the refugees to return to their country with the changes taking place inside Syria, and improving security, according to the UN spokesman, is not all that matters for the return. However, there are many other reasons that must be taken into consideration, The main reason cited by returning refugees, in addition to economic pressure. He explained that UNHCR is constantly advising refugees so that they can make the right decisions.[/ltr]
[ltr]Jordan receives about 660,000 registered Syrian refugees, 180,000 of them in the camps. The remaining 80% live in different areas of Jordan, most of them in the northern Jordanian governorates near the border with Syria.[/ltr]
