WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump has vowed to overthrow his foreign secretary, Rex Tilerson, and replace him with CIA director Mike Bombo in the coming weeks, a foreign newspaper reported on Thursday.
"Bambo will replace Tillerson as secretary of state in the coming weeks," a senior White House official was quoted by The New York Times as saying.
The newspaper said it was not clear if President Donald Trump had given his final approval of the plan.
US State Department spokeswoman Heather Noiret said US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson would attend a UN Security Council meeting on North Korea on December 15.
"At the invitation of Japan, Minister Tilerson will attend a UN Security Council meeting likely to be held on December 15 to discuss the North Korean issue," Nuerte told reporters at a press conference.
