BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Monday that the first thing his government is doing after liberating cities from the grip of the Da'ash organization is to open schools, stressing the need to confront and eradicate extremist ideology and terrorism.
"The role of the teacher in society is an example for others to chart a better future for our peoples," Abbadi said in a speech at the opening of the work of the Central Council of the Union of Arab Teachers in Baghdad.
"We face a number of challenges, including eliminating the other through extremist and terrorist ideology," he said, adding that "it is very important to eliminate this thought."
"We succeeded in defeating our heroic forces in defeating terrorism militarily and liberating our territories," he said, stressing the need to "work to eradicate the deviant ideology."

"The first thing we do after the liberation of cities is to open schools to their utmost importance and the importance of education," he said, stressing "the importance of the role of the teacher in society and the government's plan to take care of this important group."
"The other challenge is to challenge the corruption that is trying to steal hope from our youth," Ebadi said. "It is shameful to use power for corruption and to spread public funds."
He pointed out that "there should be a culture of society that is the rejection of corruption," stressing the importance of "voluntary work and raising generations for this basic work."
Abadi also stressed the importance of justice and fairness in the distribution of wealth, appointments and positions, noting that "justice and equity is fundamental and fundamental to society and without them we will not progress."
The Directorate of Education in the province of Nineveh, announced in December, the resumption of official work in schools in the city of Mosul and within the liberated neighborhoods.
