[ltr]BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The Iraqi government on Thursday rejected US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and warned against the "serious consequences" of the resolution.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The prime minister confirms the position of the Iraqi government by rejecting the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Israeli occupation and the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem," the office told Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.[/ltr]
[ltr]"We warn of the serious repercussions of this decision on the stability of the region and the world and the injustice it represents to the rights of the Palestinians and the Arab and Islamic world and other religions. Jerusalem is the title of coexistence between all religions and nations. No country has the right to legitimize the occupation, And to affect the legitimate rights of Palestine. "[/ltr]
[ltr]The government called on the US administration to "reverse this unjust decision to stop any dangerous escalation leading to extremism and creating an atmosphere conducive to terrorism and destabilizing peace and stability in the world."[/ltr]
