Small enterprises contribute one - third of the output of the Arab countries

announced the Arab Monetary Fund , the contribution of the SME sector is estimated at 33 percent of gross domestic product ( GDP ) , a group of emerging economies in the countries
and developing countries . In a recent study titled "The Small Business Environment in the Arab States - Current Situation and Challenges", the IMF said that the sector plays an important role in increasing value added and diversification of the economic structure and is a major source of job creation in many countries.
The study predicted that small and medium enterprises will play a prominent role in reducing unemployment in developing countries in the coming years, because they are able to create job opportunities, contributing to create 4 out of every 5 new job opportunities in the
formal sector . The study also showed that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are estimated at 90-99 percent of the total number of establishments in Arab countries
Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Lebanon and Jordan are the top Arab countries in terms of number of establishments, according to the
Arab Fund study .
According to the report, Egypt ranked first in terms of establishing micro, small and medium enterprises in 2014, with a total of 2454 establishments, followed by Saudi Arabia with 785 establishments, Tunisia with 601 establishments, Lebanon with 171 establishments, Jordan with 156 establishments, followed by Jordan. Palestine has 110 properties, the UAE has 75 properties, Bahrain has 40 properties, Kuwait has 33 properties, Sudan has 22 properties, and Qatar has 13
properties. As for the sectoral distribution of the number of small and medium enterprises in the Arab countries, it was found that the trade sector occupies the most important space, public services, and manufacturing industries
As for the distribution of these sectors among the countries, the report revealed that the most established establishments in the trade sector came from Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The trade and services sector occupied the largest part. In Jordan and Palestine, the work of small and medium enterprises Services and
manufacturing industries .
According to the report, the contribution of enterprises in GDP ranged from 30 percent to 80 percent in Egypt to 80 percent, Tunisia 73 percent, Jordan 40 percent, the UAE 39 percent, Algeria 35 percent, Saudi Arabia 33 percent, Morocco 29 percent, And Palestine 16
