Tehran to the GCC: Your Council is futile and ineffective
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Tehran accused the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Thursday of reneging on its duty towards Palestine, citing the final communiqué issued by the council's last summit in Kuwait as a model of "lack of proper understanding of the realities and priorities of the region."
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasimi said in a statement on Wednesday that the latest statement was an indication of "ignoring the realities of the region, turning a blind eye to the realities and priorities in the current sensitive circumstances of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and proving the ineffectiveness and futility of this council, And unrealistic policies ".
"Instead of addressing the major problems in the Muslim world, supporting the oppressed Palestinian people, and addressing the chaotic issue of moving the US embassy to Jerusalem," the GCC addressed only issues of no value in this regard and clearly disclaims its Islamic duty And humanitarian towards Palestine ".
The Council's statement affirmed the firm positions of the GCC states on the Palestinian issue as "the first Arab and Muslim issue" and called for the political, diplomatic or diplomatic status of the city to be changed, warning that any change in this situation would have serious repercussions.
Qasmi dismissed what he called "baseless and false allegations" against his country in support of terrorism, while Iran "plays a pivotal role in combating terrorism in the region," as he put it.
On the other hand, Qasimi accused the GCC of turning a blind eye to the "daily crimes committed by Saudi Arabia and its few allies against the defenseless Yemeni people."
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman reiterated the right of Iran's historical sovereignty over the three islands, saying the claims contained in the Gulf Declaration on the islands were "blatant interference" in Iran's sovereignty and "the violation of international laws and resolutions."
However, Qasimi stressed Tehran's willingness to negotiate and consult with members of the Council with the aim of reducing tensions and final solution to the problems of the region, away from the use of force and killing of peoples who "can not lead to the solution of problems," as he put it.
