The Czech Foreign Ministry announced that it recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel according to the 1967 borders, while Israel is waiting for other countries to follow the example of the United States and recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move its embassy to it.
"The Czech Republic sees Jerusalem as the future capital of the two states - Israel and the State of Palestine," it said. The newspaper said the Philippines and Hungary announced yesterday their intention to publish two similar statements soon.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli radio in Hebrew said yesterday that the President of the Philippines Rodrigo Douterti sent a letter to Israel declaring that his country is determined to transfer its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Likud leader Gideon Sa'ar predicted that other countries would follow the example of the United States and recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move its embassy to it.
In an interview with Israeli-language radio, Saar described the US decision as a "grand prize" worthy of praise by Benjamin Netanyahu.
