[ltr]Oil rises on Chinese deman Weqew[/ltr]
    [ltr]Follow up of Mawazine News[/ltr]
[ltr]Oil prices rose more than 1 percent, boosted by an increase in Chinese demand for crude and threats of strike in Nigeria, Africa's biggest oil exporter.[/ltr]
[ltr]But prices end the week with losses of up to 1.8 percent amid concern that increased US oil production could undermine supply cuts led by OPEC.[/ltr]
[ltr]Global Brent crude climbed $ 1.20, or 1.93 percent, to settle at $ 63.40 a barrel, but ended the week down about 0.6 percent.[/ltr]
[ltr]US benchmark WTI futures closed up 67 cents, or 1.18 percent, and ended the week with a loss of around 1.8 percent.[/ltr]
[ltr]China's crude oil imports rose to 9.01 million bpd, the second-highest level ever, according to data from the General Administration of Customs.[/ltr]
[ltr]The surge in demand will push China to overtake the United States as the largest importer of crude oil this year.[/ltr]
[ltr]US investment bank Jefferies expects the demand for oil to grow by 1.5 million bpd in 2018, driven by a 10 percent increase in Chinese demand.[/ltr]
[ltr]"Overall, the market looks more solid and not weaker," said Tamas Farga, an analyst with BP Oil Associates.[/ltr]
[ltr]Farga said threats from a labor union in Nigeria, Africa's biggest oil exporter, to strike later this month also provided price support.[/ltr]
