    Follow-up / Sky Press:

    French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Laudrian confirmed that his country will not transfer the embassy from Tel Aviv to another city at this time, referring to the American decision on Jerusalem, which was rejected by the European Union.

     

    Asked about the possibility of French President Emmanuel Makron taking a step similar to that taken by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that East Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine, Ludrian said: "France has no intention of moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to any other city" .

    The French minister stressed that Paris supports any peace process placed on the table.

    The foreign ministers of the European Union, including France, expressed - in a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - expressed opposition to the step presented by US President Donald Trump on the sixth of this month, Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

     

    EU foreign policy chief Federica Mugherini said it was time to launch peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians, noting that "the only realistic solution" was to recognize two states with Jerusalem as their capital.

     

    The German news agency reported that the European Union recently stopped expanding its cooperation with Israel in protest against the Israeli settlement policy, where the last meeting of the so-called "Association Council between the European Union and Israel" in 2012.

     

    The US decision on Jerusalem has provoked Palestinian, Arab and Islamic anger. The Istanbul summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called on the world to recognize East Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Palestine.
