Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday signed agreements and treaties to join 22 international organizations.
This came at the start of a meeting of the Palestinian leadership (members of the Executive Committee of the PLO, the Central Committee of Fatah movement, the secretaries of the factions, leaders of the security services and the Prime Minister) to discuss the American decision on Jerusalem, at the presidential headquarters in the city of Ramallah, in the center of the West Bank.
President Abbas said he had signed agreements and treaties to join 22 international organizations, adding that the names of these organizations would be published through the Palestinian Foreign Ministry later (unspecified).
He added that "22 or 26 agreements and treaties will be signed on a weekly basis, whereby Palestine will join other international organizations."
He pointed out that a Palestinian committee will be formed to study the accession of hundreds of international organizations in the coming period.
He stressed that the Palestinian leadership will take political and diplomatic measures against the decision of US President Donald Trump, to recognize the occupied city of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
"We are determined to go the many times to get full membership in the United Nations," Abbas said.
At the end of 2012, 138 countries voted for the membership of Palestine in the United Nations as an observer.
The Palestinian president said that "the United States is no longer an honest broker for peace, and it is standing in the position of Israel," adding that "America adopts Zionist action."
This comes after US President Donald Trump announced on December 6 that Jerusalem was formally recognized as the capital of Israel and the transfer of his country's embassy to the occupied city. Trump's decision provoked a state of Arab and Muslim anger amid international concern and warnings. . Finished
