The Sumer Association for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Dhi Qar province has registered 18,000 people with disabilities throughout the province since the 1980 war and until now for reasons of war, disease and childbirth.
Waleed al-Saadawi, president of the association, said that the large number of them still have 80 percent of the rights without any rights or access to any subsidy requirements from the provision of industrial limbs, wheelchairs, support or rehabilitation programs, integration, job creation and social life in the absence of clear interest by The central government.
He added that the association is working according to its capabilities in meeting a section of the needs of people with disabilities, which do not include most of those covered by this segment.
He called on the central government to pay particular attention to people with disabilities who have increased their numbers after the recent liberation operations in the war to eliminate the terrorist.
