BAGHDAD (Reuters) - An Iraqi Airways plane collided with one of the communications columns at the airport, according to activists and shipping sources.
Mawazine News obtained pictures showing an Iraqi Airways plane was hit on Sunday, causing damage to one of its wings and temporarily out of service.
According to navigational sources from Baghdad airport, an Airbus 330 plane belonging to Iraqi Airways crashed into a communications column next to the runway in the airport yard.
All Baghdad International Airport flights were delayed after the crash.
Activists said the incident took place through their pages on Facebook, pointing to the delay of flights at the airport, which caused confusion among travelers.
Earlier, Iraqi Airways had agreed to buy eight aircraft from Airbus International, two A321-214 and six other A320-214 aircraft, which previously owned two Airbus A330s.
