[ltr]Iranian Revolutionary Guards spokesman Ramadan Sharif said the situation in Tehran and other Iranian cities was under control.[/ltr]
[ltr]"There is no need for the IRGC to intervene in the current events. The police and internal security forces are doing their duty well," Sharif said. "Some Iranian cities have requested the help of the Basij Popular Mobilization Forces."[/ltr]
[ltr]"The number of participants in the protests in Tehran yesterday decreased significantly," said Brigadier General Ismael Kuthari, vice-commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Tharullah.[/ltr]
[ltr]Kothari noted that "the calm returned to the center of the capital in a short period," stressing that "will be prosecuted those who caused property losses during the protests," noting that "the role of the Revolutionary Guards in Tehran was limited to monitor the situation only."[/ltr]
[ltr]Two Basij members were killed in Najafabad in Isfahan by "vandals," Iranian television reported. Earlier, a policeman was killed and three wounded when shots were fired in the same city, police said.[/ltr]
