(Baghdad: al-Furat News) Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim al-Jubouri urged to provide the basic requirements for the electoral process, while stressing that the House of Representatives will exhaust his efforts to resolve legislation on the need of people.
"We are coming to an electoral process and we understand the views of all the blocs on this," he said at a press conference held today at parliament.
"With regard to the budget, there is no default by the House of Representatives because we have received the budget during the legislative holiday and we held an extraordinary session during which we budget to the Finance Committee for discussion."
Jubouri pointed out that "was sent to the budget notes to the Council of Ministers, and the observations made on the budget is not absurd, and must provide the basic requirements for the electoral process."
"We have invited the Independent High Electoral Commission to attend the parliament session tomorrow to discuss the election law and its technical preparations for the elections."
"There is no disagreement over the holding of the elections, but the electoral process has requirements that must be met, including the Commission, including the integrity and transparency of the elections."
"We can not talk about a fixed time for holding elections until after the House of Representatives votes on it," he said.
Jubouri noted that "the House of Representatives will continue to work without interruption until the completion of the budget and election laws, and will be held sessions throughout the week to crystallize a clear vision on the laws of the budget and elections shared by the legislative and executive."
He pointed out that "there are appeals from oil-producing provinces and have observations on the budget, and it is necessary to conduct a consensus between the executive and legislative bodies, and the House of Representatives will spend his efforts to resolve legislation on the need of people."
On the oversight aspect of the parliament, Jubouri said that "the files of questioning officials were within the current legislative term."
On the crisis with the Kurdistan region, Jabouri pointed out that "dialogue can solve the problems with the region," noting that "a Kurdish delegation will visit Baghdad in the next few days."
