    Follow-up / Sky Press:

Iran filed a formal complaint to the United Nations against the United States, accusing it of interfering in its internal affairs with regard to the ongoing demonstrations in the country.

"The US government has stepped up its blatant interference in the affairs of Iran under the pretext of supporting the demonstrations," he said in a letter sent by the Iranian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Gholam Ali Khoshroo, to Secretary-General Antonio Guterich and the UN Security Council.

"US President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Bens encouraged the Iranians to carry out subversive actions by publishing a lot of ridiculous tweets," he said.

Khoshroo accused the United States of violating international law and the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

"We respect the Iranian people in their attempt to oust their corrupt government," Donald Trump said in a tweet on Twitter. "You will see great support from us in a timely manner."

Since last Thursday, Iran has been witnessing demonstrations in the cities of Mashhad and Kashmer (northeast); in protest against the high cost of living, later turned into protests that launch political slogans.

Demonstrations later spread to various areas, including the capital, Tehran, leaving at least 24 dead and dozens wounded, while security forces arrested more than a thousand protesters.
