The country's exports of non-oil goods reached 31.6 billion dollars in the past nine months, indicating that 80 percent of the targets have been achieved, an official with the country's trade development organization said.

"The first nine months of the current Iranian year started on March 21, 2017," said Farhad Nouri, head of the commercial services development office of the Iranian Trade Development Organization, at a ceremony honoring the exporters and model economic activists in Hamdan province. With imports valued at $ 37 billion and $ 500 million, signaling a trade deficit of $ 6 billion.

Exports of non-oil goods accounted for 53 percent of the country's total exports, he said, adding that the country's exports fell by 2 percent compared to the same period in 2016.

The head of the Trade Services Development Office of the Trade Development Organization of Iran said that the target of the country's exports on the basis of the Sixth Development Plan is $ 40 billion. "Of this figure, $ 31 billion and $ 600 million represents 80 percent of the plan," he said.

In the past nine months, 20 percent of Iran's exports were from China, 15 percent to the UAE, 14.5 percent to Iraq, 9.5 percent to South Korea and 6 percent to Afghanistan, he said.

Nuri said 25 percent of the country's imports came from China and 17 percent from the UAE.
