The explosion of the iPhone battery at the Apple store in Zurich has left seven people slightly injured, police sources said.

Police spokesman Marco Pisa was quoted by Apple Insider as saying that 50 shop agents and employees had been forced to leave, after smoke was detected from the iPhone battery and after an Apple store employee tried to remove the battery. From the phone, he was slightly burned.

Pisa added that seven people had received medical care, but none had been transferred to the hospital. Forensic experts were trying to find out why the iPhone was so hot, and praised the Apple shop workers who sprayed Sand "quartz" on the burnt battery to put out the smoke and control the situation.

Apple has not commented on the incident so far, where one of the employees in the store was exposed to superficial burns, while smoke spread believed to be toxic, according to specialists, the battery caused the error either from the owner of the phone or while removing the charger.

The crash of the iPhone in Switzerland coincides with Apple's recent lawsuit, accusing Apple of slowing the performance of its iPhone 6 batteries in order to force its customers to buy newer models.
