The Ministry of Industry and Minerals on Thursday unveiled a strategic plan to launch production lines for equipment, weapons and heavy equipment during the next phase, noting that this step will provide about 70% of the needs of the Iraqi army of equipment and light weapons.
 The ministry's director of relations and media Maitham Najem said in a statement that the ministry has developed an ambitious strategic plan in the field of military industrialization to be implemented in three stages. The first phase includes the launching of production lines for light and medium heavy equipment to reach 70% While the second stage will be the manufacture of medium and light weapons such as guns and pistols. "
Najm added that "the third phase is long-term and needs foreign expertise to be applied to the manufacture of aircraft, tanks and heavy artillery," noting that "the success of the first phase of the manufacture of the contribution contributes to securing billions of dollars annually to the government by stopping the waste in the budget by buying weapons from International companies that set their conditions in arms deals. "
He explained that "the Directorate of War Production was able to manufacture a rocket of certainty (1, 2 and 3) by self-effort as well as the production of Katyusha rockets and artillery and all mortar rounds of light sizes and light ammunition light air bombs, which contributed to support the war effort in the war against terrorism."
Najm pointed out that "the individual and heroic efforts of the members of the Directorate contributed to the rehabilitation of tens of thousands of abandoned weapons and the introduction of them in the service of the armed forces during the war with the Daash," stressing that "the Ministry of Industry is waiting to open special bids mid-next month to contract with international companies to rehabilitate and open lines New productivity of hardware.
