The International Organization for Migration in Iraq said that the number of returnees to their areas of origin exceeded the number of displaced in the country, for the first time since the beginning of the crisis in Iraq in 2013.

"In the past four years, the country has been severely affected by conflicts with the terrorist advocate, leading to the displacement of nearly six million people," the organization said in a statement, Haider al-Abbadi, the victory of Iraq in its battle against the preacher last year. "

The International Organization for Migration in Iraq (IOM), the United Nations agency for migration, also identified the number of returnees to their places of origin "at about 3.2 million, while there are still 2.6 million displaced."

"Following the improved security situation in the restored areas, a large number of displaced Iraqis returned to their original locations, returning mainly to Anbar province (38 per cent, more than 1.2 million), Nineveh (About 30 percent, or about 975,000 people), and Saladin (14 percent, or 460,000 people), "the three provinces were the hardest hit by a provocative occupation, and 86 percent of the current displaced population Country.

Shortly after the start of Operation Restore Mosul in October, IOM built two emergency displacement sites, one in Haj Ali and the other in Qayara, to accommodate 110,000 displaced persons. These sites were established in partnership with Ministry of Displacement and Migration.
