US President Donald Trump confirmed on Sunday that he has not made any offensive statements about Third World countries and does not consider himself racist.

US President George W. Bush's remarks sparked a stir around the world after media reported that at a meeting on immigration with senators, Trump described Third World countries as "dirty nations."

Trump had mentioned, in particular, Haiti, El Salvador and a number of African States.

While Trump said earlier that he had not used such words, a number of senators among opponents and supporters of the president commented on conflicting statements about whether the head of state had said so.

Asked if he was racist, Trump replied, "No, I'm not racist. I'm the least racist you've ever had." He said he did not make any offensive comments at the White House meeting.

The Washington Post reported that Trump made the remark during a meeting at his office with a number of senators to discuss a bill on immigration.

"Why do all these people coming from the scum of countries come to this country?" Trump asked during the discussions, the paper quoted unnamed sources as saying, referring to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador.
