    Follow-up / Sky Press:

Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali al-Thani was taken by ambulance to the military hospital after arriving in Kuwait after leaving Abu Dhabi. According to sources for the island, the Sheikh went to Kuwait in an unstable health situation.

There was an injury in his right hand as he appeared on a wheelchair. He said he was being held in Abu Dhabi after being hosted by Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In the video, Shaikh expressed his fears that he could be hurt, accusing bin Zayed of responsibility for what might happen to him.

Sheikh Khalid bin Ali bin Abdullah al-Thani said the information about his brother Sheikh Abdullah, who is detained in the United Arab Emirates, was mixed with regard to the next destination and his family, confirming that he was taken to hospital due to pressure from the UAE authorities.

Sheikh Khalid said that the family had learned that Sheikh Abdullah had suffered health problems as a result of exhaustion and pressure, which necessitated his transfer to the hospital, stressing that his health is stable, and he received a promise to leave the hospital when the doctor saw it.

Describing the circumstances of his brother in the UAE, Sheikh Khalid said that the family had submitted reports to the National Human Rights Commission and international organizations to ask for their help in reassuring the health and safety of Sheikh Abdullah.

He explained that UAE embassy officials told his brother early Monday that they would allow him to travel to Britain, the destination he wanted to leave for, but then they told him that he could not travel because his passport was being stopped by the Qatari authorities, while the passport is valid.

He said UAE officials told his brother that his two daughters could travel alone to Britain, but he refused to do so. Sheikh Abdullah was also quoted as saying that officials in the UAE sometimes informed him that he would be deported to Saudi Arabia and sometimes told him that they would allow him to travel to the destination he wanted.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali al-Thani said in a videotape last Sunday that he was being held in Abu Dhabi after being hosted by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and confirmed that any abomination would be the crown prince of Abu Dhabi responsible for him.

The UAE news agency declined to comment on Sheikh Abdullah, saying that he was a guest of the UAE and left at his request. The agency withdrew its Twitter message shortly after its publication.
