Turkey agrees to postpone filling the dams of the Alesso dam to ensure the flow of water to Iraq

The Turkish ambassador announced Tuesday that his government has agreed to postpone filling the dams of Alesso dam to ensure the flow of water into Iraqi territory.
"The Turkish Ambassador Fatih Yildiz informed Al-Issawi today, with the consent of his government, to postpone the filling of the dams of the Elissu dam to ensure the flow of water to Iraq, during a meeting between the two parties in the presence of the president of agricultural associations.
The press office added that "this response came after appealing to the people's peasant-peasant movement to the ambassador, which was notified to him last week."
"The meeting gave an impression of reassuring the Turkish government to take account of Iraq's interest and ensure its water share in the Tigris and Euphrates," he said. "Coordination is ongoing between the ministries concerned with the agricultural side and water resources to give Iraq time to store water."
