     Follow-up / Sky Press:

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced in a letter to run for a second term in the March 2018 presidential election.

"I say to you frankly and transparently that we are used to it and hope that you will allow me to accept my candidacy for the post of president," he said. Prosecutors are expected to run for president on January 29

The National Electoral Commission in Egypt, announced in early January that the upcoming presidential elections will be held in March in two stages.

In the first stage, elections will take place on March 16, 17 and 18, while citizens will vote on March 26, 27 and 28.

So far, none of the "dissidents" has announced his intention to run in the elections, with the exception of left-wing human rights lawyer Khaled Ali, who is facing public dishonesty, while independent candidates have announced their intention to run in the race, including Zamalek president Morteza Mansour.

The National Electoral Commission requires the collection of about 25 thousand power of attorney, from 15 provinces, or the signatures of 20 deputies in parliament, to run for president.
