The lawyer charged by Saudi Arabia, Michael Kellogg, of the US judge charged with a case that examines the kingdom's relationship to the September 11, 2001, attacks in the United States, called for any legal proceedings to link the Kingdom to those events.

This came during the proceedings of the Manhattan District Court hearing in New York, which examines the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, according to Bloomberg.

Kellogg said in his address to the US judge, George Daniels, at the start of a hearing that lasted all Thursday, to drop all cases linking Saudi Arabia to the events, because there is no evidence of the involvement or support of the Kingdom to Al Qaeda.

"The victims did not provide any evidence to support their cases. The 9/11 Commission, the FBI, the CIA and the 9/11 Commission did not find any evidence to support Saudi involvement in the attacks."

"Conclusions, speculation and hearing are not enough to bring a lawsuit," he said.

Lawyers for the September 11 victims and their families say Saudi Arabia has channeled money through its charitable associations to the terrorist organization, and supported their case with statements by former FBI officials, former Florida senator Bob Graham and former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Saudi officials provided logistical support to two hijackers who committed the crime on September 11.

The US judge has yet to decide whether or not to appeal against Saudi Arabia, but the Associated Press has hinted that Daniels may continue in the recent lawsuit.

Some 2,500 families, more than 20,000 people and various institutions and insurance companies are demanding billions of dollars from Saudi Arabia.

In September 2015, US judge George Daniels, who oversees the lawsuit, rejected the demands of the families of the victims.

But in September 2016, the US Congress overtook the veto of former President Barack Obama and approved the Justice Act against the Terrorists, known as Justa, which allows for such cases to continue.

"We have a lot of accusations about what many Saudis and state charity organizations have done, and Saudi Arabia can not hide from the facts," said James Kreindler, a lawyer for the families of the victims.

The Saudi government has consistently denied any responsibility for the attacks carried out by hijacked planes that crashed at the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon outside Washington and in a field in Pennsylvania, killing nearly 3,000 people.
