[ltr]US Vice President Mike Bens arrived in the Jordanian capital of Amman where he is scheduled to hold talks with Jordan's King Abdullah II.[/ltr]
[ltr]Earlier, Bens held talks in Cairo with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Egyptian presidency said that the meeting discussed the strategic relations between Egypt and the United States and the fight against terrorism and the question of Jerusalem in the light of the US president's decision to recognize the city as the capital of Israel.[/ltr]
[ltr]Bens said he assured Sisi that the United States would remain committed to maintaining the status quo of Jerusalem's holy sites and that it had not yet reached a final decision on the border between the two sides.[/ltr]
[ltr]During a meeting with Sissi, the US vice president pledged US firm support for Egypt in its war against militants and said relations between the two countries had been strongest after a period of apathy.[/ltr]
[ltr]Pens is scheduled to conclude his Middle East tour with a visit to Israel[/ltr]
