Official data showed that the poverty rate in Jordan jumped to 20% in 2016, compared to 14.4% in 2010, while economists expected to overcome poverty, the latest in light of rising living pressures, especially after a series of government measures, which include increasing taxes and prices.

There was controversy over a study conducted three years ago, and the government did not announce the results of poverty for reasons that were said to be related to high poverty.
The latest poverty figure was included in the details of the economic stimulus plan, published by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation on its website, and dealt with the financial, economic and social indicators in the country, including poverty and unemployment.
The plan, prepared by the Economic and Public Policy Council, commissioned by King Abdullah II, outlined the main internal challenges facing Jordan: modest economic growth and rising public debt, as well as rising unemployment rates that have worsened in recent years. To 15.25% in 2016 compared to 12.5% in 2010 and 25% among young people. Ending / 25
