A senior aide and chief advisor to the commander-in-chief of the Iranian armed forces, General Yahya Rahim Safavi, proposed Tuesday the establishment of a regional alliance to include Iran, Russia and Syria, Iraq and Pakistan. 

The Iranian news agency Fars news agency reported that the "assistant and senior adviser to the commander-in-chief of the Iranian armed forces, General Yahya Rahim Safavi, proposed the establishment of a regional alliance to include, as well as Iran, Russia and Syria, Iraq and Pakistan."




The agency quoted Safavi as saying that "the new alliance will be in front of the confrontation of the American alliance." 

The secretary-general of the Islamic Union of Iraqi Turkmen MP Jassim Mohammad Jaafar al-Bayati said on Monday that Turkey intends to build a quadripartite alliance against partition, saying it is a "promising project" to bring the points of view closer.
