Iranian goods are at the forefront of imports

     Baghdad / Fadia Al-Jawari

The specialists emphasize the need for the government to activate the customs tariff laws and the procedures for collecting duties and taxes on the importation of foreign goods and goods of all kinds. And to limit their imports on the one hand and to encourage national production on the other.
Economist Salem al-Bayati warns of the risks to the Iraqi economy as a result of the invasion of foreign goods, stressing that the entry of these commodities in the current form, will not allow the development of the industrial and agricultural sectors in the country.
Al - Bayati said in an interview (range) that " the Iraqi market today has become a haven for many commodities, particularly Iran of various kinds, referring to statements made by one Iranian officials in which his country producers urged to pay attention to the Iraqi market , which imports 99 percent of Iraq 's needs.
He said al - Bayati "The estimates of the Iranian side are serious and must be stopped because of the entry of such goods, and largely to Iraq, which does not allow the growth of any industrial or agricultural sector either through competing Iraqi products or in ways that are almost unknown to everyone, including distorting the image of the Iraqi product and damaging its infrastructure "He said.
The economic expert demands that there be a diversity of goods imported into Iraq and that schedules, quality and origin of the goods should be organized so that they are not limited to one or more countries, especially since Iraq is one of the most importing countries due to the decline in work in many local production sectors.
"Iran is one of the most important trading partners of Iraq in the crops of vegetables and fruits and some dairy products, which increased after the control of an organization calling on large areas of the country, which led to the suspension of commercial crossings with Jordan, Syria and Turkey." "The volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Iran is between eight and ten billion dollars, and is expected to rise if the government continues not to activate the law of customs and pay fees and levies on imported goods."
He points out that Iran is a producer of vegetable and fruit crops and covers Iraq's need for these agricultural products. "In addition, the price differentiation tends to favor Iran because the prices of its agricultural products are lower than those of other countries." In recent years, But the current circumstances may raise Iran to the level of the first trade with Iraq to be his largest trading partner. "
The Assistant Trade Development Affairs of the General Department of Industry, Mines and Trade Iranian official Jamil Shuhani announced that during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (as of March 21 last year), 902 million, 201,000 and 270 dollars worth of Iranian goods had been exported to Iraq via the Mehran international border alone.
He added that "the goods that were exported from the border of Mehran to Iraq included building materials, metal products, agricultural, plastic, cars, spare parts and petrochemical materials," noting that "the total exported to Iraq across the border of Mehran during the last Iranian year (starting March 21) And 300 million and 730 thousand and 767 dollars. "
Iran's Trade Development Organization (ITO) disclosed the export of iron bars for the first time through the bourse to Iraq.
"Iran's Trade Development Organization has revealed the export of 500 tons of iron bars for the first time through the stock market," Iranian trade attaché in Iraq, Nasser Behzad, said in a statement.
