    [ltr]The US Treasury Department on Friday imposed sanctions on six individuals and seven companies under financial sanctions laws targeting the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The ministry said in a statement that most of the individuals, five Lebanese and an Iraqi, are linked to Al-Enma Engineering and Contracting Company.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The seven entities are based in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Lebanon and Ghana.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The United States on Friday banned arms exports and defense services to southern Sudan to increase pressure on President Salva Kiir to end the country's four-year conflict.[/ltr]
    [ltr]"The State Department today announces that it is restricting the export of defense materials and defense services to southern Sudan," State Department spokeswoman Heather Naort said in a statement.[/ltr]
    [ltr]While the US government does not sell weapons to southern Sudan, the new move prevents any American company or US citizen from sending equipment or defense services to the warring factions in the country.[/ltr]
