Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Friday accused Pakistan of failing to act against the Taliban and vowed to develop a new security plan for Kabul after hundreds were killed and wounded in two horrific attacks in the capital last month.

"The Afghan people and their government are waiting for practical and clear steps from the Government of Islamabad to confront the terrorists," Ghani said.

An attack on the InterContinental Hotel in the capital Kabul and a suicide bombing on a crowded street a week later have fueled mounting public anger in Afghanistan and increased pressure on a Western-backed rich government to improve security. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attacks, which killed more than 130 people and wounded hundreds.
The embassy in Kabul confirmed that "officials in Islamabad are studying the evidence provided by Afghan Interior Minister Wiss Baramak and intelligence chief Masum Stankzai during a recent visit to Pakistan."
