Jordan's King Abdullah II said that the United States' role remains essential for any hope of a peaceful solution between Israel and the Palestinians, despite great criticism of the new US position on Jerusalem.

"We can not have a peace process or a peaceful solution without the role of the United States," the king said in an interview with Fareed Zakaria at the Davos Economic Forum and broadcast on CNN on Sunday.

He considered that this reality remains true even after the decision of President Donald Trump to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv, where all the embassies of foreign countries in Israel.

In December, Amman described Trump's move as "a violation of the resolutions of the international community and the Charter of the United Nations." Abdullah renewed his concerns to US Vice President Mike Bens, who visited the Middle East last month.

In his interview, King Abdullah said that Trump's decision "provoked a violent reaction" and generated a feeling among the Palestinians that "there is no honest broker."
