    announced that the commander of the naval base in the city of Abadan , southern Iran , on Tuesday, that the forces of the Coast Guard of Iran and Iraq are conducting joint naval patrols in the Arondrod River in order to improve security in international waters. 

    "According to the agreement between the two countries, Iran and Iraq are carrying out joint maritime operations to enhance security in Arundrud waters, provide the ground for fishermen to carry out their activities, and secure trade and safe passage of marine parts of this waterway," Colonel Mohammad Ali Muswyand said.


    The Arundrod River is located south-west of Iran to neighboring Iraq and consists of the confluence of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers , and the most important ports that are located on this river, Basra and Faw in Iraq, Khoramshahr, Abadan and Khosroabad in Iran.
