America suffers from the biggest drop in stocks

US stocks fell in volatile trading Monday and the Dow Jones industrial average fell about 1,600 points at session lows, the biggest drop in all-time trade, with a long-awaited downward correction deepening from record highs. According to Reuters.
The Dow Jones industrial average closed at 1175.21 points, or 4.6 percent, at 24,345.75. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was down 113.19 points, or 4.10 percent, to end unofficially at 2,648.94.
In the first comment, the White House said in response to a slump in financial markets that President Donald Trump was focusing his policies on the fundamentals of the long-term economy, which remained strong.
According to AFP, the White House said, the US economy is still "very strong."
