A Turkish naval vessel intercepted a ship belonging to the Italian company Eni on Sunday as it was on its way to stop the gas that was recently discovered in Cypriot waters, Cypriot media reported on Sunday.
It added that Turkish warships were conducting maneuvers in the area, pointing out that the incident occurred on Friday.
Turkish military officials told the ship crew not to continue the flight because the area would be undergoing military maneuvers, a company spokesman told Associated Press.
Kasoulides added that his country is in intensive contact with the company and the Italian government regarding the ship order. A spokesman for the company said the ship would remain in place pending a development.
