    Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmad Mahjoub said that Iraq would not hesitate to play a role in bringing the Gulf countries closer to Saudi Arabia and Iran, provided that he is asked to do so because of his good relations with the countries of the region.

    In an interview with Sky Press, Mahjoub said Kuwait's hosting of the Iraq reconstruction conference would increase the likelihood of receiving greater support because of the "privileged" relations of Kuwait with all the countries of the region and the world, according to Al-Jarida newspaper.

    Asked about the possibility that Iraq would play a role in bringing the views of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries closer to Iran, he said: "His country will not hesitate to play this role if requested, because of its good relations with the countries of the region."

    As for the Turkish interventions in Iraq and Syria, Mahjoub said, "Iraq stands against foreign intervention in the affairs of other countries. We are committed to international conventions and bilateral obligations between countries. Therefore, Iraq calls on all parties to respect the sovereignty of other countries and to combat terrorism through coordination. With the international coalition and not be a reason to penetrate the borders of any state to another state. "

    Mahjoub expressed his thanks to the State of Kuwait for the excellent organization of the reconstruction conference, stressing that Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sabah al-Khalid played a big role in the success of this event.
