The White House presents a $ 4.4 trillion budget for fiscal year 2019
The White House presented a draft budget for the new fiscal year 2019, which starts in October 2018, worth $ 4.4 trillion.
The document, submitted to the US Congress for consideration, included an increase in the budget deficit to $ 984 billion, or 4.7 percent of the country's gross domestic product.
The budget also included new increases of hundreds of billions of dollars for defense and border security, with an increase of $ 686 billion in defense spending alone.
On the other hand, the budget provides for a sharp reduction of programs for the care of the poor, the elderly and the needy. The expenses allocated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs decreased by 27% and the Environmental Protection Agency by 37%.
The draft budget for fiscal year 2019 envisages the creation of 25,900 new military posts, as well as huge investments in aircraft, ships, ground systems and missile defense.
It is expected that the budget will face opposition in Congress, especially the part on reducing the allocations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been thwarted a similar attempt last year.
