    China raised US Treasury holdings at its fastest pace in seven years last year, while total global holdings of US Treasuries declined in December.

    China's largest bond-holding country in the last month of last year raised its total purchases of US Treasuries to $ 1.18 trillion, up from $ 1.17 billion in November, the Treasury Department said Thursday.

    At the 2017 level, China's holdings of US Treasuries increased at the fastest pace in seven years by $ 126.5 billion.

    The total of the world's holdings of US Treasuries last December amounted to 6.310 trillion dollars, compared with 6.333 trillion dollars in the previous November.

     


    Japan came second with US Treasuries at $ 1.06 trillion, down from November's $ 1.08 trillion.


    The largest possession of bonds


    Ireland retained its position as the third-largest holder of US bonds in the world at $ 326.5 billion, followed by the Cayman Islands in the fourth central bank with US bonds worth $ 269.9 billion. 


    The fifth central bank was Brazil, which continues to reduce its holdings to 256.8 billion dollars, while Britain, which finished sixth place total holdings of bonds to 250 billion dollars.


    In seventh place came Switzerland, where it reduced its holdings of US bonds to 249.6 billion dollars, and reduced by Luxembourg at 217.6 billion dollars.


    Ninth in Hong Kong was $ 194.7 billion, while Taiwan was in tenth place with $ 180.9 billion.

    Arab countries


    Saudi Arabia has retained its position as the top 11 with US $ 147.4 billion in US Treasury bonds, although it has reduced its value from $ 147.6 billion a month earlier.

    While the UAE ranked second in the Arab world and 22 in the world in terms of value of holdings of US Treasury bonds, although the reduction of total holdings to 57.7 billion dollars, compared with 58.2 billion dollars in November.

    Kuwait was in third place, with the nation not lifting the US Treasury balance in December and settling at November's levels of $ 36.8 billion.
