[ltr]The Supreme Islamic Council (ISCI) President Hammam Hammoudi discussed with the advisor of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Akbar Velayati the strengthening of the military and intelligence efforts to enhance the security of the region. While Hamoudi rejected the US military presence in the region.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The head of the Supreme Council Hammam Hamoudi received the advisor of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Ali Akbar Velayati and the accompanying delegation," Hamoudi said in a statement received by Mawazine News.[/ltr]
[ltr]The statement added that "the meeting during which the most important developments on the political, security and economic levels of both countries were discussed."[/ltr]
[ltr]Hamoudi stressed "the rejection of any US military presence in the region," adding that "this step has its goals and malicious targets."[/ltr]
[ltr]He called on the Iranian side to "continue cooperation to counter enemy schemes," pointing to "Iraq and Iran in one front against the threat of terrorism."[/ltr]
[ltr]"The importance of concerted military and intelligence efforts to strengthen the security of the region," Hamoudi said.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The strategic relations between the two countries are critical to the future of the entire Middle East region," said Velayati, hoping that bilateral relations will witness a broader level of activating areas of mutual interest.[/ltr]
