The United States' permanent representative to the United Nations, Nikki Hailey, said on Friday that her country does not rule out the use of force against government forces in Syria.

"The military solution is not ruled out in any case. We do not want to be in the middle of the Syrian conflict, but we want to do everything we can to protect people from chemical weapons," Hayley said during a speech at the Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago.

"The United States continues to put pressure on Russia, which in its opinion covers the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and obstructs the delivery of humanitarian aid to the eastern Ghouta."

At the same time, Hayley did not rule out that "Washington will hit Syria again, as it did in April 2017, if the reports of the use of chemical weapons are confirmed."

"The bombing is not for no reason. It must be understood who will be in the strike zone. President Donald Trump has said he will not talk about his plans, but Assad knows we will take steps if we see evidence of chemical weapons."

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson accused the Syrian authorities late January of using chemical weapons against civilians in the eastern Gauta. The US State Department also indicated that Moscow "is doing everything it can to protect Syrian President Bashar al-Assad."

In response, the Russian Defense Ministry said that "the American accusations are based on rumors and testimonies of fighters and information disseminated in social networks, nothing else, and the Russian foreign ministry condemned the US statements, describing them as" unfounded. "
