    [ltr]KHARTOUM (Reuters) - Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged artillery fire in the disputed Kashmir region, forcing hundreds of people to flee, police said in Kashmir, raising new doubts over a 15-year ceasefire between the two nuclear powers in the region.[/ltr]
    [ltr]It was not clear why Saturday's artillery fire broke out in the Uri sector on the Line of Control, which divides the Himalayan region and has a Muslim population.[/ltr]
    [ltr]But tensions have escalated since an attack on an Indian army camp in Kashmir this month that killed six soldiers.[/ltr]
    [ltr]India blamed Pakistan for the attack and said it would make it pay.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Police chief Imtiaz Hussain said artillery shells fired by the Pakistani army landed in the Ure district, prompting hundreds of villagers to flee their homes.[/ltr]
