[Asharq Al-Awsat] Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, said that during his visit to Iraq, there was no talk of Iraqi mediation between Iran and America at all.
"Iran is aware that the Americans are seeking a secret and covert incursion into Iraq," Velayati told reporters after a meeting with Sunni leaders in Iraq.
"The Iraqi government and people are opposed to this American incursion," he said, adding that "of course, cooperation between Iran and Iraq in the area of regional policies will be strengthened."
