The head of the Center for Strategic Studies, retired Saudi Rear Admiral Anwar Eshki, that Iraq is more open now to the Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia from the previous period.

"The period of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi is open to Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia," Eshki said in a press statement.

"Iraq and Saudi Arabia agreed to open joint border points and to form a Saudi-Iraqi coordinating council," Eshki said. "On this basis, a meeting was held for Iraqi President Fuad Masum with senior editors of newspapers and media in Saudi Arabia."

As for the Iraqi elections, Eshki confirmed that he "personally prefers Abadi."
