The US dollar was mixed against major currencies on Friday, with fears that US President George W. Bush's plans for imports of aluminum and steel could trigger a trade war.
Donald Trump announced yesterday that next week he will unveil a 25 percent and 10 percent tariffon US imports of steel and aluminum.
By 6:55 GMT, the dollar was steady against the euro at $ 1.2263, while falling against the yen at 105.93 yen by 0.3%.
While the US currency against the pound sterling registered $ 1.3779, while fell against the Swiss franc by about 0.2% to 0.9398 francs.
The US decision would cause trade disputes between the United States and a number of countries in the world. China expressed its rejection of the resolution last week and said it would take the necessary measures to protect its rights.
